"Vibe coding": English as programming language "Vibe coding" was named as the word of the year last year by one dictionary: the process where instead of coding directly, you let an LLM (so-called AI) do the coding for you. This is not in itself new: CEOs and similar have been vibe coding for decades, except the coding intelligence has been natural rather than artificial. However, we have all grown up listening to fairy tales, like that of King Midas, where someone makes a wish and gets *exactly* what they asked for. Is this in the future for vibe coding? This talk will consider the experiences of vibe coders, and the consequences. Will everything turn to gold, or will it turn to gold, and leave us nothing to eat?
